Brad's Soup du Jour
My present creative and career outlets:
As of January 2009, I'm a UI Architect and UI Team Lead with a New Products group at McKesson/RelayHealth. My goal there is to help the group build up competency in User Experience as part of the product life cycle process. My particular "superpower" at RH is guiding our User Interface direction and developing the technical architectures to support this direction. I also have a knack for being able to 'talk UI' to users, psychologists, product managers, management, and developers -- I'm good at translating UI goals and concerns among these stakeholders. I sometime run into people that think User Experience means 'making it look pretty' and I have the task of educating them otherwise.
Before joining McKesson/RelayHealth, Revity was my consulting arm and housed my abilities to perform Java and Human Interface Technology work. From a tools perspective, I specialize in Adobe Flex and Web Technologies Platforms. Domain-wise, I have R&D experience in Intelligent Tutoring Systems, Computer-Based Training, Ambient Information Displays, Designer Support Systems and Financial IT Systems.
The Rod and Cone is my photography blog about my race to become a world-class studio photographer before Jackie finds out how much money I have spent on photography. It documents my thoughts & lessons learned on Studio Photography, Studio Equipment, and Marketing..
Combineering is a technology company I am working on that develops cutting edge software for biologically-inspired machine intelligence. In particular, we explore the use of Genetic Programming for the financial, science, engineering, computer science, and art & entertainment industries. I'm still working on various pieces of the technology, but am at a point where I'm looking for a company or two that may want to collaborate on a testbed-type project.

Brad Wiederholt
I am an Atlanta-based software entrepreneur who creatively solves problems and inspires others with my solutions and visions. I see the big picture and formulate it for others to see. I thrive on ambiguity.
For better or worse, I am a generalist -- I am best at defining a problem and solving it. I am pretty good at implementing the ideas in software myself, but it is best when I leave the extremely detailed implementation and maintenance of the solution to specialists (where I change hats and play the role of mentor and guide for the rest of the rollout).
Others find me valuable because when I finish with a problem, I have created new ideas, systems, artifacts and jobs. The jobs part is important and a good measure of my success because it typically means that there is business value and money to be made off my ideas.
I hold MS and BS degrees in Information and Computer Science from Georgia Tech.
The absolute best way to reach me is my personal email address bjw@mindspring.com.
